The new crane ready for delivery

Mark Bishop of MEB said: “The new AK 42 has an innovative configuration that allows the main boom to be set at 90 degrees and the jib horizontal for a tower crane mode. It also comes with variable outrigger positioning for those tight spaces, plus, we benefit from a state of the art radio remote controller, with all the safety and zoning systems that you except from Böcker. We know this is going to be a popular versatile addition to our crane fleet.”

Family owned MEB was established in 2016 and is based in Telford, it runs a fleet that includes a number of Böcker cranes, including the RK 36/2400 tracked model, AK 42 and AK 46/6000. Its main customer base includes civil and general contractors, industrial plant moves and installation and demolition work. It also runs a transport fleet.

I'm curious.
Being from the other side of the pond I know very little about the Bocker line.

Are these cranes able to operate on main boom only without erecting the jib ??

And is the boom/jib all aluminum ?
