One electrocuted one injured

A man in hopsital with serious injuries after he came into contact with an overhead power line while working from the platform of a boom lift in Hyannis, Massachusetts on Sunday. A man who rushed to help him is dead.

The injured man was working from the basket of what looks like an old Genie Z60/32 articulated boom lift, which he has been using for the past month or so to remove and trim trees from the yard of his home. On Sunday he clearly took the platform too close to the overhead power line and received an electric shock and possibly burns, he screamed out in pain, but the machine remained too close to the wires.

Jermaine Whitmore, 32, was apparently heading to the beach with his four children and was just getting them into the car, when he heard the man’s screams and ran over to the platform to see if he could help, he clearly came too close to the machine or even tried to use the lower controls to bring the man down, whichever it was, he must have taken the full impact of the electricity as it ran to earth. He was taken to hospital but declared dead shortly after arrival.

The other man, was airlifted to a hospital in Boston where he reportedly remains in critical condition.
