Genie launches QR code support

Genie has launched Serial Hub, a QR code based digital platform providing access to machine specific information including operator manuals, maintenance requirements and parts ordering.

The QR code decals are located on each unit and the serial plate, providing access to information specific to the machine's serial number when scanned with a smartphone or tablet.

There is no cost to access Serial Hub, and QR codes are included on new machines at no additional charge, but equipment owners can purchase QR code decals separately to connect existing Genie machines in their fleet to the system.

Genie global services and digital solutions vice president Matt Skipworth said: "The process is quick and simple. You simply scan a new QR code decal, enter the machine's serial number, and affix it to the machine. If a QR code gets scratched or damaged, replacement QR codes can be purchased at a nominal cost and added to the lift the same way. We're always looking for ways to make incremental improvements to our machines, and our customer service and support. We saw an opportunity to enhance the user experience and streamline access to critical information, so we did it."

The company says future developments will include product walk around videos, operator and technician training videos, and customer integration into the digital platform. QR codes are being introduced for North American customers and will be included on all new machines globally by the end of the year.
