UK sales and rental company Hird has used a two tonne Valla 20E TRX tracked pick & carry crane to relocate a historic cream coloured K6 telephone box for digital communications provider KCOM and veterans' charity Hull 4 Heroes.
Lifting the phone box to load it on to the trailer
Lifting at a 2.6 metre forward reach, the Valla lifted the 1,000kg telephone box onto a Hird truck to move to site, - Hull's Princes Quay shopping centre. Once there a forklift unloaded it, and took it to top of the ramp into the shopping centre, where a pallet truck was used to take it to the shop front., where the 20E TRX was waiting to lift it uprighht and move it into the shop.

The 100 year old telephone box will form part of a military paraphernalia display at Hull 4 Heroes' community shop. The cream coloured phone boxes were once common in Hull, unlike the standard red versions used across the rest of the UK.

KCOM community partner Louise Babych said: "We worked with the Hird team when we donated a K6 phone box to the Tigers Trust last year. These 100 year old phone boxes need to be moved safely, in a way that ensures they're not damaged, and the Hird team has all the necessary equipment and expertise to make sure that happens. It was a pleasure to work with the team who, like us, love to support local charities. So, I had no hesitation in recommending them to Hull 4 Heroes to deliver this phone box."

Hird appointed person Phil Harrison said: "We were very happy to be able to help both the Hull 4 Heroes charity and KCOM on this lift. The telephone box will help the charity's work to support veterans and their families in the local community. We're honoured to be able to help the charity and its volunteers in their great work."
