Exhibition Data Scam Alert!

As you may have seen in the Letters section of the latest (27.4) issue of Cranes & Access – page 71 Scam Central we, along with many others, have received numerous fraudulent emails offering to sell visitor registration data for just about every event on the planet, from Bauma, to Conexpo, JDL, GIS IPAF Summit, Apex and even this year's Vertikal Days.

The latest one we received is even more fraudulent that usual, it purportedly comes from 'Anna Williams' who falsely signs off on the email as the event manager, which she is clearly not! These emails usually originate from individuals in countries known for their scam call centres. If you follow though , as we did as part of our ongoing efforts to expose such charlatans, they demand payment in advance and would probably either send you utter rubbish or nothing at all. This latest email uses the email address: [email protected]

When it comes to Vertikal Days, any data collected for registration is a) The absolute bare minimum for the job and b) Never ever sold to third parties under any circumstances. We maintain a strict data protection policy and do not speak or authorise any external parties to market attendee lists or related services.

Anyone who receives such a communication with an offer to sell Vertikal Days data, or from any other event in our sector should know that they are Guaranteed to be 100 percent Fake!. We would advise you to delete them or better still tag the address as junk, then block and report them. We plan to list them all as they come in on a new 'Fraud, Theft and Scams' section that we are working on.

Having said all that, we can’t wait to see you on September 10th and 11th at Newark Showground for this year’s event which promises to be biggest so far.
