Innovative tool station

Australian startup company Elevated Tool Store has launched a new patented tool station for safely storing hand tools when working at height.
The Elevated Tool Store was unveiled at the recent Hire 25 event in Melbourne

YThe station can be secured to any guardrail in minutes and includes a protected flat top area to hold small tools or fittings, lanyard anchor points and tool hooks to secure tools from being dropped onto those below and place them within easy reach.

It also includes a lift out metal container in the main body, which can be used for storage or waste, including hot items such as steel offcuts or welding rod stumps.

The tyool station is 400mm wide at the top -with a slight taper to the bottom, by 455mm high and 300mm deep at the ‘crown’ or the top. The total weight is around 11kg.

The new business is owned and managed by Royce Coffey and his wife Jessica. Coffey an experienced boilermaker, developed the tool store to address multiple safety, and usability issues that he has experienced firsthand over 30 years of working in construction and heavy industry.

The product has been going through a series of field trials over the past few mnths with different contractors before the final tooling is sealed, for volume production to get underway. So far the feed back has been very positive. The company is now taking pre-orders while it completes the trials and starts manufacturing.

Speaking of the device Royce Coffey said: “Those working from elevated platforms typically carry traditional toolboxes, which contain a variety of hand and power tools required to complete their tasks. This presents a potential safety risk when working at height, with a number of deaths each year in the construction industry due to dropped objects. The Toolboxes or Tool bags are usually placed on the floor of the platform, requiring repeated bending over to reach a tools, which increases the risk of work related injuries.”

“The Elevated Tool station solves these challenges by providing a tool storage solution that can be mounted at bench height on the rail of a platform. It includes slots for providing easy access to commonly used tools, which can be tethered to the station to prevent the risk of falling.”

“The removable aluminium tub can be used to store tools or could be used as a bin to capture things such as welding electrode stubs /hot waste or general waste.”
