Three mobile cranes were used to carry out the work during Liebherr's August company holiday: a 45 tonne LTC 1045-3.1 from Schmidbauer's Memmingen branch and a 110 tonne LTM 1110-5.1 as well as a 130 tonne LTM 1130-5.1 from Rieger & Moser in Ulm. The project involved dismantling five ageing overhead cranes and installing five new double girder overhead travelling cranes.

The new overhead cranes feature lifting capacities between 40 and 63 tonnes with 28 metre spans. The 63 tonne crane includes two hoists, with crane dead weights up to 41 tonnes depending on lifting capacity.

The LTC 1045-3.1 dismantled trolleys with hoists, the LTM 1110-5.1 removed main girders from old bridge cranes, and the LTM 1130-5.1 installed new girders.

The project required careful timing and coordination due to the tight timeframe, limited hall space and logistics for transporting large components. The work was completed during the non-production period with dismantling and assembly performed almost simultaneously.

Rieger & Moser is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, having been established in 1945 as an automotive workshop before joining the Schmidbauer Group. The company operates as a crane rental provider for industry, construction and infrastructure in Southern Germany.
