UK based RiConnect has launched Digital Product Passports as a Service (DPPaaS), combining Digital Product Passports with Software as a Service to help crane and access platform manufacturers comply with the European Union's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
The cloud based service provides lifting equipment manufacturers and rental companies with digital product passport capabilities. ESPR requires products placed on the EU market to meet sustainability standards including circularity, energy performance, recyclability, and durability.
RiConnect's DPPaaS concept combines Digital Product Passports (DPP) and Software as a Service (Saas)
RiConnect specialises in compliance and traceability systems for lifting equipment using radio frequency identification (RFID) chip technology. The company's DPP system records equipment lifecycle information including material composition, energy performance, maintenance schedules, inspection records, and end of life recycling procedures for cranes and access platforms.
RiConnect sales manager Rob Whitehurst-Maiden said: "We can now support customers by providing DPP in a more accessible and cost effective way through the SaaS model. We are longtime pathfinders as manufacturers look to ensure compliance with EU regulations, while enhancing supply chain transparency and efficiency."
