Swedish owner for APP Lifting

The industrial division of Swedish private equity investor Amplex has acquired Doncaster, UK based lifting gear supplier APP Lifting Services in an all share purchase deal from owner and managing director, Paul Wright, who will remain on board and manage the business for the new owners.

APP Lifting Services was registered in 1993, and now offers a wide range slings, hooks, lifting beams and other lifting gear, custom designed and standard, from its Doncaster base along with a small operation – Lifting Gear London - in Barking East London. It has 23 employees and annual revenues in the region of £3.5 million. It is financially very solid, with a tangible net worth of around £3 million.

Henrik Johansson who heads the Industrial business area within the Amplex group said: ‘APP Lifting Services has a strong offering and high technical expertise in its market niche, which is customised solutions for heavy lifting. The company’s products complement our already broad product range in lifting technology and material handling and add valuable customer relationships in the UK.”

Paul Wright added: “I am very pleased to hand over ownership of APP to Amplex, which is a financially stable, committed and long term owner that strongly believes in the power of good entrepreneurship. Within the Amplex group, APP will receive the support and tools it needs to continue its development, which will benefit our highly valued customers and employees.”

Amplex was set up in 1992 as a holding company for a number of car dealerships in Sweden, today its investments are largely involved with lifting and materials handling in production facilities, warehouses and public services, as well as workplace safety and lighting. APP takes into heavier handling equipment. The group includes 30 operating companies in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, the USA, Canada, and China, with around 675 employees in total, and revenues in the region of SK1.8 billion (€163 million). Amplex also owns a real estate business in the USA.
