A maintenance train on the Beijing Metro collided with the boom of an aerial lift last Wednesday, killing one man and seriously injuring another.
The two men in the platform were working on a bridge at the time, with the base machine located on the opposite side of the line, and fully extended telescopic boom horizontal over the tracks, which one assumes were closed to passenger traffic.
The boom over the tracks
However, a train, reported to be a rail milling train, travelling down the track closest to the base boom lift, struck the boom, apparently throwing those in the platform to the ground. We only have a copy of a copy of CCTV footage and so far have received anything from the work safe authorities in Beijing which is leading the investigation into the incident.
