UK lifting equipment manufacturer Multisec has desinged and manufactured a 35 tonne multi point lifting beam system for UK based Enshore Subsea for use in offshore cable handling operations.
The beam in transit to Enshore Subsea's facility
The Joint Over Boarding Beam provides a 15.5 metre span and 16 lower lift points for varied load configurations in marine environments. Multisec supplied a complete rigging package including wire ropes, polyester slings, chains and cable grips for compatibility and traceability from design through to offshore use.
For its first job, the beam was deployed during Enshore's work on the Inch Cape offshore wind farm 15 kilometres off the Angus coast in Scotland.
The rigging package
Enshore Subsea package manager Henry Jemison said: "Enshore approached Multisec to produce an engineered Joint Over Boarding Beam inclusive of all rigging arrangements, ROV shackles etc., completely bespoke for an upcoming project. The requirements also included the additional challenge of ensuring the beam is 'future proof' for other upcoming projects. The Multisec team owned the challenge from the off and delivered the beam, to spec, within budget, and ahead of time."
Multisec managing director Amanda Gardiner added: "Our engineers worked hand in hand with Enshore's project team from the early design stage through to fabrication and testing. Delivering a lifting beam that performed flawlessly on its first offshore use is always rewarding - it demonstrates what can be achieved when technical requirements are clearly understood and engineering precision is maintained throughout the process."
Multisec is based in Middlesbrough and designs and manufactures modular and bespoke lifting systems for onshore and offshore applications.
