US Port Tampa Bay has ordered two Ship to Shore cranes, marking Liebherr’s first installation on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Manufactured at Liebherr’s facility in Killarney, Ireland, the new cranes feature 60 metres of outreach, a 50 metre lift height and a 65 tonne twin/ tandem lift capacity. Advanced features include anti-collision, anti-sway and a curve-going gantry system for operational stability. Each crane is equipped with Liebherr’s remote diagnostics platform, predictive maintenance, and ship profiling technology to help reduce unplanned downtime and optimise cycle times.

The cranes will support Port Tampa Bay’s container terminal expansion to 100 acres, which includes new paved storage and a third deep water berth. They are expected to help the port achieve its target of one million cargo containers a year and improve service for carriers and cargo owners across central Florida and the Southeast.
Liebherr USA head of sales maritime cranes Winston Ziegler said: “We are proud to partner with Port Tampa Bay as it advances a major phase of its Vision 2030 container expansion. These Liebherr STS cranes are engineered for productivity, safety, and long term reliability.”
