Australian rental company Alfasi Hire has sold its crane division, Alfasi Cranes, to contracting and manufacturing group Crossmuller. (UPDATE: The rumours that United Rentals is set to acquire the main Alfasi Hire business have been cofirmed - see below)
The crane deal was apparently concluded at the end of October. The Alfasi / Crossmuller fleet now runs from a one tonne spider crane to mini crawlers, 25 to 40 tonne Franna pick & carry cranes, a few Rough Terrains, to a range of telescopic and lattice boomed crawler cranes topped by a 300 tonne Liebherr LR 1300. Alfasi Cranes is based in New South Wales, with its headquarters in Somersby north of Sydney, and a branch in Oberon to the east of Sydney.
Crossmuller said: “This integration strengthens our capability across lifting and heavy equipment, enabling a streamlined, end to end service for customers nationwide. We look forward to this next chapter and the opportunities it creates for our people and our clients.

This news was not widely disseminated, perhaps it has been overshadowed by ongoing rumours that Victoria based Alfasi Hire was/is to be acquired by United Rentals?
In spite of our best efforts throughout November, we have Not been able to confirm these rumours, but they keep on coming and have not gone away – smoke and fire springs to mind. If there is any substance to the rumours which are now widespread, it might explain the disposal of the specialist crane operation prior to closing a deal?
