Allison to acquire Dana
US based Allison Transmission is to acquire the Off-Highway business of telehandler axles and powertrain manufacturer Dana for around $2.7 billion.
Dana’s Off-Highway business operates across 25 countries with 11,000 employees manufacturing axles and other power train components for equipment used in construction, forestry, agriculture and mining. It recent years it has developed a strong foothold in the market for hybrid and electric drive systems.
Allison chief executive David Graziosi said: “This acquisition marks a transformative milestone in our commitment to empowering our current and future customers with propulsion and drivetrain solutions that Improve the Way the World Works. We look forward to harnessing this momentum to increase value for all of our stakeholders worldwide.”
Dana chief executive Bruce McDonald added: “Dana’s off highway business has long been committed to delivering innovative solutions for off highway applications, and we are confident that under Allison’s ownership, the team will be well positioned to continue that legacy. This agreement represents a strategic opportunity to ensure the ongoing success of the business, while allowing Dana to focus on our core priorities.”
Allison expects to make annual synergy savings in the region of $120 million. It will finance the transaction using a combination of cash and debt. Closing is expected by calendar year end.
