Indonesian fertiliser manufacturer PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain crane.
The new crane is formally handed over
The five axle crane is equipped with an eight section, 75 metre main boom and can be topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. Up to three, seven metre inserts can also be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a maximum tip height of 113 metres with the main boom at 68 metres. The crane will be used primarily for lifting large machinery and components at the company's plant in Bontang on the central east coast of Borneo.

The single engine concept will be more economical, and the 75 metre boom is indispensable for our daily lifting tasks. In addition, the compact dimensions and small slew radius are essential for some of our more confined work areas.”

The company operates five ammonia, five urea and three nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) plants across the country with around 1,300 employees.
