The scene this morning

The crane was working on an expressway project in Samut Sakhon when the incident occurred. It was being operated by Italian-Thai Development (ITD), the same company involved in yesterday’s tragic incident in which the death toll has now reached 32.

The expressway where today's incident occurred has been dubbed ‘Death Road’ due to the number of serious accidents in recent years.

Italian-Thai Development was also the contractor involved in the construction of a Bangkok high rise building that collapsed during an earthquake last March - an event in which no other buildings in the city sustained comparable damage, resulting in the deaths of 89 people.
