JLG has unveiled a new telehandler concept machine, a 4,500kg/13.2 metre (10,000lbs/43ft) quad track telehandler, the 1043T. Aimed at customers working on specialty construction applications.
The machine made its debut at this year’s World of Concrete, which opened yesterday. It will also be shown at Conexpo in early March.

The company said: “This innovative new design concept will help telehandler operators gain additional traction, flotation and manoeuvrability when working in challenging terrain, like loose or unstable ground conditions, wet or muddy environments and steep inclines/declines.
Daryl Stauffer, telehandler product management director added: “Contractors are being asked to do more work in tougher conditions, and that’s exactly what inspired the innovation behind the 1043T Quad Track telehandler. This preview model reflects how we’re listening to customers and exploring new ways to maintain productivity when the ground won’t cooperate.”
“The 1043T Quad Track telehandler is about enabling productivity in the most challenging ground conditions. This concept model lets us show customers how tracked mobility can help their crews stay on schedule when terrain becomes the biggest obstacle.”
Vertikal Comment
This is an unusual beast for a mainstream manufacturer to consider adding to its product line. It gives more than a passing nod to Xtreme Manufacturing’s XR50100-G Trackzilla 22.5 tonne/30.4 metre monster quad track telehandler shown at the last Conexpo in 2023 and now shown as a production machine. The big question is - will this new JLG make it to full production? It will depend on its reception at the two shows and the level of commonality with its regular wheeled machines. If this is high, then yes.
