Sunstate acquires JTB Rentals

US based Sunstate Equipment has acquired Louisiana based JTB Rentals, expanding its coverage in north central Louisiana.

Founded in 2013 and based in Calhoun, Louisiana, JTB is located just east of Shreveport supplying equipment to north central Louisiana, east Texas, south Arkansas and northwest Mississippi. It operates a fleet of scissor lifts, boom lifts, mast lifts, crawler cranes, tower cranes, All Terrains and Rough Terrain cranes along with other equipment.

Sunstate chief executive Norty Turner said: “This acquisition meaningfully strengthens our ability to serve customers across north-central Louisiana and the broader Ark-La-Tex region while preserving what matters most - local relationships, trusted service, and the people who deliver it every day. JTB has built a strong reputation rooted in care for customers and community, and we're excited to build on that foundation together as part of Sunstate's growing network."

Sunstate first entered Louisiana in 2024 with the opening of branches in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. It also operates from 25 branches in neighbouring state Texas.

JTB founder, James Montgomery added: “Joining Sunstate gives our employees new opportunities and our customers the ability to tap into a wider network of fleet options for projects both inside and outside Louisiana. We trust Sunstate with this next chapter of growth for our team, our customers, and our community."

Sunstate was founded in 1977 by Mike Watts when he acquired Beldon Rentals, rebranding it Sunstate. The company is now wholly owned by Sumitomo, having acquired a minority stake in 2009, a majority holding in 2013, and full ownership in 2017. The company offers a wide range of equipment, including a fleet of around 26,000 aerial lifts and 4,500 telehandlers as well as a few carry deck cranes, from 107 locations across 16 states.
