Road rail boom in Japan

A 25ft Platform Basket RR9/200 tracked Road Rail articulated boom lift has been delivered to the Japanese railway maintenance service in Okayama Prefecture in the southwest of the country.
Trimming trees along the tracks

The RR9/200 - supplied through Platform Basket’s Japanese rail boom distributor IGA - was chosen by the rail company largely for the removal of fallen and unstable trees along the rail lines. The lift also enables technicians to safely reach elements of the railway infrastructure that require inspection and maintenance but are difficult to access.

The boom features a single short riser, a fixed length boom and a short articulated jib with an end mounted platform. It offers a working height of 9.5 metres, an outreach of up to 4.7 metres with an up & over height of just over four metres and an unrestricted 200kg platform capacity.

Platform Basket said: “The project highlights the growing use of spider lifts in infrastructure maintenance applications, where versatility and compact design are key operational advantages. The RR9/200 strengths include compact dimensions and agility, allowing it to work in confined spaces or on steep embankments, as well as good stability on uneven terrain. It offers suitable working height and capacity for line operations, while ensuring ease of use and full compliance with railway safety regulations.”
