UK rental company Scott’s Hire has placed an order for 80 JCB telehandlers. The order, placed through the manufacturer’s dealer Gunn JCB, includes a wide range of traditional fixed frame models, from six metre compacts, to 18 metre units,
Scott’s operations manager Marc Jackson said: “JCB is synonymous with building the world’s best telescopic handlers. They offer the reliability and safety customers expect on site, and we want to be known for providing modern, dependable machines that contractors can rely on. The X Series models have been widely praised across the industry and directly by our customers too, with excellent operator feedback."
“With JCB, we get market leading machines backed by excellent dealer support and strong residual values. It is also good to know we are supporting jobs close to home with the machines built in neighbouring Staffordshire.”
Don Scott set up Scott’s Hire in Macclesfield – south of Manchester - in the late 1960s, and sold the business to Martin Smithson in 1998. In 2001, he was ready to step up his growth plans and acquired D. Buxton Hire in Sandbach, more than doubling the size of the company. In order to cope, Scott’s consolidated its locations on Arclid near Sandbach to cover Cheshire and the North West. The following year, the company opened a depot in Brownhills, north of Birmingham and at the start of 2023, opened a branch in Dundee, Scotland. It is now on the verge of opening a North London depot. Its fleet now numbers 2,500 units, mostly earthmoving, welfare units and telehandlers.
