Platform electrocution
A man has died while using an aerial work platform to paint the outside of a multi occupancy, house in Syracuse, New York.
The man, Daniel Ignacio, 43, was working at a height of around six metres from a Haulotte/Bil-Jax trailer lift, from the Taylor Rental fleet on April 30th, when he came into contact with one of the live primary overhead power lines running down the street - Martin Luther King West.
He was declared dead when the emergency service arrived on the scene.
IPAF, the International Powered Access Federation, publish some good guidance on this subject in most of the major languages. It is free to download at
www.ipaf.org/en-gb/resource-library/safe-use-mewps-vicinity-power-lines for the English version, or go to the home page for other languages. We understand that this is at least the fifth such fatal incident reported to the association in the first four months.
