A pickup driver died on thursday after crashing into a boom lift on Highway 16 near Acheson roughly 10 miles west of Edmonton in Canada.
The man working from the platform survived the impact but is reported to have suffered serious injuries.
The Lift a Skykack SJ 86T from the United Rentals fleet, which weighs more than 17 tonnes and was being used by a man working on the Highway 60 overpass above the West bound lane of Highway 16.The lane he was working from was closed and cordoned off with barricades at the time.
The deceased man, 44, was driving a Dodge Durango SUV which was almost completely demolished, suggesting that he was travelling at some speed. He was declared dead at the scene shortly after the emergency services arrived.
