Thieves in hi-viz

We received a striking video today for our fraud and theft section. It shows three men, dressed as construction workers in their hi-viz vests, brazenly stealing tools in broad daylight from an urban work site, just off the High Street in Stratford upon Avon, in the UK. The footage was shared by Frankie Williams, founder of Stolen Tools UK, after it was sent to him by a follower.

The CCTV clip appears to show the trio repeatedly walking back and forth, carrying armfuls of equipment from a site office to a van parked on the road before driving off. From what can be seen in the video, they make around 15 trips, taking as much gear as they can carry before the footage ends.

Williams set up Stolen Tools UK to raise awareness of tool theft and help tradespeople report stolen equipment quickly, while also improving the chances of recovery through its community and links to the police. It seems the incident occured a few days ago, and as far as we know, there are no leads so far.

Williams said: “Unknown men disguised as tradespeople are stealing tools from a building site. They stole a ton of tools… In 2022, I lost £4,000 worth of tools - an experience that had a serious impact on my business and livelihood. That moment became the driving force behind my mission: to help other tradespeople protect themselves and their livelihoods.”
