€85 million investment on TVH facility

Belgian international replacement parts specialist TVH has invested €85 million in its new ‘Plant T’ facility, which opens this month. It aims to improve efficiency, speed product checks and shorten lead times.

The four storey building, which has an 18,000 square metre footprint, will act as a central hub for incoming goods, providing 54,000 square metres of logistics space, along with 2,000 square metres of office space. The new facility will add to the company's existing facilities, mostly in or near Waregem, which already cover 215,000 square metres.

The ground floor will be used for receiving and sorting incoming goods, while the second floor will house the quality department, as well as office and meeting rooms. It includes 17 loading docks and is linked to a warehouse across the street, by a 600 tonne connector bridge.

TVH chairman Patrick Lecluyse said: “This is clear proof that we are investing in future growth and that, although we are a truly international company, we remain firmly anchored here in Belgium.”

The facility uses conveyor belts and autonomous mobile robots to move goods internally, with the connector bridge linking directly to the ‘Goods Out’ warehouse. The facility has 2,266 solar panels on the roof and a waste recycling area for wood, plastics and other waste streams.

Chief operating officer Tanja Dysli added: “It’s easy to think Plant T is just another storage warehouse, but that’s not the case at all, it’s a vital link in our warehouse logistical process to improve throughput time and consequently offer better lead times to customers, and our other branches around the world.”
