Spanish acquisition for Konecranes

Finnish port crane and handling equipment manufacturer Konecranes has acquired the nuclear service and port service businesses of Spanish crane services company Coapsa Control from owners Jordi Calatayud Castañ and Joan Quintana Canudas.

The two parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the transaction, which was completed yesterday, although it may well become clear at year end.

Coapsa Control is based in Viladecavalls, northwest of Barcelona. Established in 1997, it specialises in crane services for nuclear and port customers, including inspections, preventive maintenance, service, repairs and modernisations. Revenues last year were in the region of €4 million with 20 employees.

Konecrane’s manager of Port Services Catarina Lopez said: “The acquisition strengthens Konecranes' presence in Catalonia and the whole of Spain and ensures that the in-depth knowledge and expertise of Coapsa's team remain accessible to nuclear and port customers.”

Jordi Calatayud Castañ and Joan Quintana Canudas added: “Together with Konecranes, our entire team can continue their work and expand the business with confidence for the future.”
