UK trade association the CPA held its annual Stars of the Future awards presentations today near Coventry.
The event entrance
The event celebrates the country's brightest apprentices and trainees in a bid to encourage more young people into the industry and recognise budding talent, hard work and passion.
Getting ready for the start
Employers and colleges enter their most promising apprentices with certificates and recognition for all nominees. While winners receive substantial prizes as well as the accolade
The event was very well attended
Award categories are currently available for Mechanics/Technicians, Equipment Installers, Hire Controllers/rental dispatchers, Operators and Technical Support Persons. With regional winners for Scotland, Wales, plus the North, South and Midlands regions of England. Plus the National winners. Additionally, there are awards for top apprentice Mentors and College of the year.
Individual Mentor of the Year award went to Jake Davies of Wolffkran
The turnout this year was incredible, and not just down to it being held in an air-conditioned hall on the country’s hottest day. We will publish the full results in the next issue of Cranes & Access magazine.
Stars of the Future is a very inspiring initiative culminating in a wonderful event. The winners are selected by a team of CPA and independent judges, including a member of the Vertikal team, publisher Leigh Sparrow. It would be good to have more crane & aerial lift rental companies, distributors and service companies enter their outstanding trainees for an award next year. If there is anything we can do to help or encourage that, we are open to suggestions.
