Merlo expands training

Merlo has expanded its UK technical training programme for engineers and dealers across the UK and Ireland, delivering courses at its Ringwood training centre in Hampshire and at dealer locations.

Opened in 2021, the Ringwood centre trains service engineers on machines, rigs and work with dismantled components without the pressure of a live breakdown. At the moment, 25 technical courses are on offer, covering hydraulics, driveline, electrics and diagnostics, with additional courses planned as new products and technologies are introduced.

The company says the new technical training programme has been attended by 220 service engineers and dealer staff so far this year and is led by training manager Sam Bowles.

Specialist options include a one week Roto 360 degree telehandler course covering operation, system understanding, diagnostics and fault finding, while British Agricultural and Garden Machinery Association (BAGMA) accredited courses are also available.

General manager Shaun Groom said: “Every engineer is at a different stage of their career, so it’s important our training reflects that. Sam has built a programme that grows with our engineers. As new products and technologies are introduced, the training continues to evolve, giving engineers new opportunities to develop throughout their careers.”

Sam Bowles added: “We’re constantly developing and updating our training programmes to ensure our dealers are ready to support both current and future products. The industry is evolving quickly, and it’s important that engineers have the knowledge and confidence needed to support customers as new technologies emerge.”
