Australian rental company BSF Mobile Cranes has taken delivery of the country’s first eight tonne Liebherr MK 88-4.1E mobile self erecting tower crane, as well as a 450 tonne LTM 1400-6.1 All Terrain crane.

The four axle MK 88-4.1 has a maximum capacity of eight tonnes and can handle 2.2 tonnes at its maximum radius of 45 metres with an under hook height of 30.2 metres. The crane can also operate with the jib luffed at 15, 30 or 45 degrees above horizontal for a maximum under hook height of 59.1 metres with a capacity of 1,850kg. Features include single person set up and operation with remote controls. The crane will be deployed primarily to construction sites where space is limited.

The six axle LTM 1400-6.1 features a six section 70 metre main boom with Y-Guy Superlift, along with numerous lattice extensions and jib options, including a 45.5 metre luffing extension for a maximum tip height of around 120 metres or an 80.5 metre luffing jib for up to 140 metres. The 450 tonner will be used for industrial, infrastructure and construction projects.

BSF director Anthony Stoeckert said: “The 450 tonne crane significantly expands our heavy lift capacities and enables us to support our customers even more efficiently on projects that require higher lifting capacities and greater reach. As we already have an LTM 1350-6.1, it was a logical next step for us to move up to an LTM 1400-6.1, which has a similar footprint to our 350 tonner but offers significantly higher capacities. And the MK 88-4.1E adds a unique solution to our portfolio between conventional mobile cranes and stationary tower cranes.”

Based in Berrinba, Queensland, Northern Australia, BSF Mobile Cranes - part of the BSF Group - runs a fleet of around 50 cranes ranging from one to 500 tonnes supported by a team of 21 employees.
