First 20t load balancer for McGovern

UK rental company E.J. McGovern Crane Hire has taken delivery of a 20 tonne Pewag Levo load balancer, becoming the first UK mobile crane company to invest in the equipment. It was put straight to work, helping install a seven tonne air source heat pump on a rooftop in Oxford.

The lift also used a 30 tonne Modulift CMOD 24 spreader frame, lifting chains and snatch blocks. The spreader frame allowed the unit to be lifted from eight points while the load balancer levelled it remotely.

Kieran McGovern said: “Having the right equipment for the job makes a significant difference, particularly when working with awkward loads and challenging installation requirements. The 20 tonne load balancer gave our team the ability to control and level the heat pump remotely, while the CMOD 24 frame and pewag snatch blocks provided the stability and flexibility needed for an efficient rooftop installation.”

Andy Charlesworth, Pewag UK sales director added: “By bringing together the Modulift CMOD spreader frame, the pewag load balancer and rigging equipment, McGovern was able to lift, control and position an awkward rooftop load with precision.”

Established in 1995, McGovern operates a fleet of All Terrains from 50 to 250 tonnes, as well as tower cranes, city cranes, spider cranes and below the hook lifting equipment from its base in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
