First mobile self erector

Singapore crane and aerial lift rental company and civil engineer, Hiap Heng group, has taken delivery of its first mobile self-erecting tower crane, a new four axle electric powered Liebherr
MK 88-4.1E.

The MK 88-4.1 has a maximum capacity of eight tonnes and can handle 2.2 tonnes at its maximum radius of 45 metres with an under hook height of 30.2 metres. The crane can also operate with the jib luffed at 15, 30 or 45 degrees above horizontal for a maximum under hook height of 59.1 metres with a capacity of 1,850kg. Features include single person set up and operation with remote controls.

Chief executive Joyce Foo said: “The construction industry is constantly evolving. Limited space in urban areas is presenting project managers with increasingly complex challenges. Our clients expect safe and cost effective solutions. The MK 88-4.1E is a targeted addition to our range.”

“The vertical tower of the MK 88-4.1E allows work to be carried out directly on the structure, even over obstructions. This enables wide working radii with high performance whilst requiring minimal space. Its asymmetrical outrigger configuration and small footprint make it ideal for work in densely built-up city centres.”

Founded in 1983 with one 18 tonne Kato, and a 20 tonne Tadano TL200, in 1985 it added 12 crawler cranes for a major product and has continued its fleet expansion ever since. The Hiap Heng group now runs a fleet of just over 100 mobile and crawler cranes and aerial work platforms.
