Liebherr LS-C 60 for Tuamotu

TMTO, a maritime operator serving the Tuamotu archipelago in French Polynesia, roughly half way between Australia and South America has ordered a 60 tonne Liebherr LS-C 60 hydraulic luffing ship crane for the Mareva Nui II, a new custom designed and built multipurpose vessel which integrates passenger accommodation with cargo transport.

The new vessel and its crane is being managed by Dutch shipbuilding company and maritime consultant Handelskade, and is being built at the Hong Ha Shipyard in Vietnam.

The LS-C 60 can lift loads from as close in as three metres radius, and take them out to 32 metres. Its hydraulic luffing system reduces mechanical complexity by limiting the number of wire ropes and sheaves, helping reduce maintenance on a ship that will cover a large number of small islands strewn over a very large area.
