Wolff for Bodner

Austrian contractor Bodner Group has taken delivery of a 25 tonne Wolff 8060.25 Cross and a 20 tonne Wolff 8038.20 Clear tower crane, they are the first Wolff trolley jib cranes in the company's fleet.
The two tower cranes in position either side of the Sill Gorge

The 8060.25 has an 80 metre jib, a maximum capacity of 25 tonnes and a hook height of 51.7 metres, while the 8038.20 has a 70 metre jib, a 20 tonne maximum capacity and a hook height of 37 metres. Both cranes are currently working on the replacement of the Sill Bridge on the A13 Brenner highway south of Innsbruck.
The construction of the new bridge is expected to take three years

They were installed on opposite sides of the Sill Gorge with their foundation anchors set 14 metres into the steep slope and approximately 20 metres below the bridge abutment. Restricted space in the gorge meant the jib of the 8038.20 had to be installed in two sections, each lifted from a different position, while a 450 tonne All Terrain crane was used to erect the larger 8060.25.

The cranes will be used to lift formwork, concrete, machinery and other site equipment for the demolition of the 1960s bridge and the construction of its replacement, the project is expected to take three years or so.

Founded in 1913, the Bodner Group is based in Kufstein and is one of Austria’s largest family owned construction groups. It employs around 3,750 people across 40 subsidiaries in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The group covers building, civil engineering, general contracting and property development.
