New compact Potain

Potain has launched a new five tonne compact flat top tower crane, the MDT 99e, aimed at smaller urban job sites – a city crane, if you like.

It is also the manufacturer’s first crane to feature the new CCS Evolution control system, with advanced technology providing simplified operation and lower cost of ownership while fully complying with the upcoming EN 14439:2025 European design standard.

The new crane has a maximum capacity of five tonnes at a 15 metre radius and a jib tip capacity of 1.2 metres at 55 metres. The crane is equipped with a 25 LVF 13 Optima variable frequency winch and is rigged in a permanent four-fall setup. It is fully compatible with Potain’s existing 1.2 metre K or L towers/masts.

Other features include ‘Potain Plus’ software, ‘Top Site’ anti-collision system, and ‘Power Control’, which ensures performance continues even when power supply to the crane is variable.

The operator's cab features a new ergonomic layout and controls, which offer easy to activate personalised settings, all of which can improve productivity. Potain’s ‘Ultra View’ cab is also available as an option.

The MDT 99e also benefits from a simplified design, with easy access to the jib and counter jib from the base, as well as optimised component design for transport and installation. The crane has two alternative designs: one for customers who mostly work on congested urban jobsites and the other for owners requiring regular assembly via helicopter.
