When one of our readers pulled into a fuel filling station in Smithaleigh, Devon, UK, on Sunday, September 27th, his attention was grabbed by a contractor installing a camera and other systems on the canopy.
No barriers, no consideration or concern
The manner in which they were working at height was beyond understanding for people who supposedly do this commercially. They were using a step ladder on the roof of their van, one of them on the ladder and the other attempting to steady it. It also looks as though it had been raining, if so, the van roof would have been even more slippery.
The pictures he took are self-explanatory.
In our correspondent's own words: "This was a live forecourt, yet there were no barriers PPE or any common sense whatsoever. When I approached the contractors, who are based in London I was told- “this is how we always do it” Good Luck to em!”
