New Tadano pick & carry crane

Tadano has released details of its new 35 tonne V320RC (Valla) all electric pick & carry crane, which is also available without a cab as the V320R.

Both cranes have almost identical performance and dimensions. They feature a three section 12 metre boom with a maximum tip height of just over 13 metres at which point it can handle up to 15 tonnes at almost two metres in front of the chassis bumper.

Several extensions and attachments are available including:

A two metre fixed hydraulic luffing jib which takes the tip height to just over 15 metres with a capacity of 12.5 tonnes at almost three metres – or 3.3 tonnes at 19.4 metres.

A 2.5 metre telescopic jib which can handle 6.2 metres at a height of around 15.7 metres, and 2.9 tonnes at a forward reach of 11.6 metres.

A tilting auxiliary boom nose with hydraulic or mechanical offsets, which can take 15 tonnes to a height of 14 metres and a two metre reach or four tonnes at 9.5 metres.

A fork attachment which converts the crane into a 15 tonne industrial telehandler which can handle seven tonnes at a height of 12.5 metres and 1.6 tonnes at its maximum forward reach of nine metres. A winch option is also available

An integrated recognition system detects the installed attachment and counterweight, with information displayed on a 10 inch screen that provides real-time access to the corresponding load chart.

The base cranes have an overall width of 2.15 metres, an overall length of 6.2 metres – while the chassis is five metres long, the overall stowed height is 2.4 metres, or 2.8 metres with the winch option installed. Overall weight is 35 tonnes, including 10 tonnes of removable counterweight.

Power comes from a 120V – 1,120 Ah battery system, with a lithium-ion battery pack as an option. The electric motor drives an all new variable displacement hydraulic pump, paired with ‘top end’ electro-hydraulic control valves. And ‘next-generation control software’ which is said to make it easier to operate with precision and responsiveness. Radio remote controls are standard for both cranes.

The new power system is also said to be dramatically more efficient, helping extend time between recharges, while reducing energy consumption.
In action inside – no emissions and quiet operation

The crane was designed and developed in collaboration with the lead customer NMG Italia, which, says Tadano, “brought hands-on field experience and the requirements of industrial lifting customers directly into the project.”

In working field trials, NMG Italia says that it recorded a 50 percent increase in productivity over its other cranes in similar applications and loads, enabling it to work for several days without recharging.
A new, patented Ground Pressure Selection System ( GPSS) provides real-time monitoring of wheel loadings, with an integrated system that alerts the operator if the ground pressure exceeds preset limits.

The V320RC had its first commercial outing helping set up and dismantle Marmomac, the marble industry exhibition in Verona. NMG Italia said: “The crane exceeded expectations, highlighting precision, autonomy, quiet operation and manoeuvrability.”
