German rental company Krandienst Schulz has taken delivery of a 400 tonne Liebherr LTM 1400-6.1, one of six Liebherr All Terrain cranes the company is adding this year, along with a 150 tonne LTM 1150-5.4.

The six axle crane features a six section 70 metre main boom with Y-Guy Superlift, along with numerous lattice extensions and jib options, including a 45.5 metre luffing extension for a maximum tip height of around 120 metres or an 80.5 metre luffing jib for up to 140 metres. For its first job, the new crane was called on to replace air conditioning heat exchangers at the Fleethof building in Hamburg city centre, where it lifted loads of up to 3.5 tonnes at a radius of 55 metres)
The crane lifting heat exchangers into the roof opening at a reach of 55 metres Schulz owner Günter Sichward said: “The most important factor in our success is quite clearly our employees. Without their skills and dedication - whether on the building site, in the workshop or in the dispatch department - none of what we achieve today would be possible. We are a family run company, and we live by that principle: our door is always open to everyone."
Only two lanes of traffic were close during operation
The company can trace its crane roots back to 1975, when Helmut Schulz set up the original operation, which became Krandienst Schulz in 1997. It is based in Braak on the east side of Hamburg with two additional depots, and runs a fleet of around 30 cranes, along with 16 trucks, a few loader cranes and a team of 80.
