Ludwig System appoints Team Orange

German lifting gear manufacturer Ludwig System has appointed Team Orange Services as UK distributor for its remote release hook system.

Based in Norwich, last year Team Orange is a sister company of NLS, which provides crane and lifting operations management across East Anglia and supplies trained staff to crane rental companies. Rupert Davison is director of both businesses and set up NLS in 2015.

The Ludwig Hook system allows a landed load to be released remotely from a safe distance, eliminating the need for any to work at height to manually unhook. The hooks have five built-in safety features, a sealed battery unit, plugless charging and an IP rating across all hooks and controls.

Ludwig currently has three new products in development:

Hooklite - aimed at the heavy lift drone sector, weighing just 700g, it can handle loads up to 100kg or 350kg.

10 tonne heavy lift hook - uses the same remote release principle as the others, but offers a power close feature in addition to power open, which allows remote attachment to heavy, inaccessible items such as sump pumps in wet wells, removing the need for confined space work.

Katcha - a remote release hook designed for the precast concrete industry, for units fitted with the Halfen pin lifting system.
The Ludwig Hook Light made its debut at Vertikal Days

Team Orange and Ludwig Hooks made their first appearance together at Vertikal Days. Team Orange has since carried out several demonstrations and is putting together ainventory of Ludwig hooks. Davison is also due to travel to Germany for training, after which Team Orange will be able to service and calibrate the hooks.

Family owned Ludwig System was founded in 2008 in Bad Reichenhall, Upper Bavaria, by Ludwig Giritzer, whose need to release chokers during forestry work without leaving the crane cab led to its first product, the Ludwig Choker. The company now makes a range of radio controlled lifting products. Design, manufacturing and service are in house.
