Mystery crane accident

Three readers have sent us photographs of a relatively new 900 tonne Sany SC9000 crawler crane which has suffered a slew ring failure. We understand that the accident occurred in Indonesia but cannot confirm this.

The slew ring seems to have failed on lift off?

We also believe that the bearing failure was due to it ripping in two, rather than a more typical bolt or attachment failure. Fortunately it looks as though the boom had only just lifted off the ground so damage or injury may have been minimal.
