Millennium Dome Arena project go ahead
The final chapter in the regeneration of the Greenwich Peninsula has begun with a scheme to turn the Millennium Dome into a concert and sport venue and build thousands of homes on the land nearby being given the go-ahead.
A consortium called the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) plans to turn the Dome in southeast London into a 20,000-seat arena.
In addition to the new London Venue, Ten thousand homes plus schools, health provisions and transport links are planned for the Greenwich site.
Construction work on the project could start as early as spring 2005.
