The upturned crane this morning
The crane,a 70 tonne Tadano GT700, owned and operated by Dunedin Crane Hire was installing cooling equipment on the roof of Dunedin Hospital when it lost stability. The crane’s boom came down in the street and across an intersection.

The crane was fully rigged
The crane operator is said to be highly experienced and the crane’s outriggers appear to have been set up in text book style with appropriate mats etc..
The crane, which had been working with full boom and swingaway extension, had completed the lift and was apparently preparing to bring the boom in and stow the extension when it tipped.
