Double award for Mammoet at first ever ESTAs
At the first ever Esta awards dinner, Netherlands-based heavy lift and transport specialist, Mammoet, scooped first prize for the year's best lifting job for its work on the Karlsruhe refinery upgrade and was runner up in the heavy haulage job of the year. The event held this week at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, was organised by ESTA, the European association for heavy haulage and mobile cranes, along with Wilmington publishing.
The event was attended by the owners, managing directors and presidents of Europes largest, lifting, hauling and rigging companies along with the all of the major crane manufacturers. The awards for the lifting jobs of the year were awarded by an international jury as follows;
Third place went the UK's very own Ainscough for a recent lift which comprised the hoisting of the world's tallest mast onto the 740 t Mirabella V sailing yacht at Southampton docks.
BMS of Denmark snapped up second place for the emergency job stablising the collapsed roof on the Siemens stadium in Balerup.
with Mammoet taking first place on the podium. The company was also awarded runner up in the haulage job of the year category.
The award for personality of the year went to Friedrich Baer, previously the head of Liebherr Ehingen. Franz van Seumeren, who announced that he will be retiring shortly from the heavy lift industry to persue other, more leisurely interests, was also given a special award for his life-long contribution to the lifting and heavy haulage industry.
