Genie to close Baraga
Terex AWP/Genie is transferring all of its Baraga, Michigan, telehandler production to its Moses Lake plant in Washington state.
The transfer should be completed during the first quarter of 2010. The Baraga plant is due to close in early December with a loss of 90 jobs.
The production line will be staffed with existing employees in Moses Lake, according to a company spokesperson for the aerial lift manufacturer.
Melinda Zimmerman-Smith said: “The actions we are taking are extremely difficult given the talented group of employees and management in Baraga, that said, we are confident that this decision will help us remain competitive in the industry and will ensure a strong future for our telehandler business in and through the challenging market ahead.”
