HSE preparing June Blitz

The UK Health & safety Executive (HSE) construction division is preparing for an intensive period of site inspections next month, as part of its nationwide FaTaL Risks Campaign 2004 focusing on the three major causes of fatal and serious injuries in construction.

Falls, during work at height,
Transport and movement of mobile plant and
Lifting operations involving heavy loads.

The blitz will run from June 7th to 25th .

Almost 300 people working in the construction industry have died during these activities in the last five years and they account for over 70% of all fatal injuries in construction. The information in the document is provided to assist construction clients, designers, planning supervisors, contractors and employees.
