Fatal truck mount accident

Two men died yesterday in after a truck mounted lift collapsed while being used to clean gutters in downtown Kotka, Finland.

The lift tipped and appears to have lost its platform

The lift a four axle Bronto Skylift apparently tipped when the pavement under one of the outriggers gave way. The operator had used some small mats, at least on the street side of the crane which held. However they are almost certainly too small for such a large crane probably set up over a basement or other void.

This view indicates the outrigger failure

The two men reportedly fell from the second or third storey of the building, no one on the ground was hurt.
Photos that we have been sent show that a detached basket, whether this broke free on impact or was removed by the rescue services we do not know.
