Gerken sells big Ruthmann to USA

Gerken has sold its 100 metre Ruthmann TTS1000 truck mounted lift to a newly formed American company, Abilene High Lift Aerial company of Abilene, Texas.

The six axle articulated trailer mounted lift will be mated with a Mack Granite Series tractor unit when it arrives in Texas later this year.

Gerken's 100 metre Ruthmann TTS1000 is off to Texas

Abilene High Lift has been established by Steve Roth and Darrell Shortes who is also president and owner of Raydon Construction an oilfield and general contractor with locations in Breckenridge and Abilene. The two have purchased the big Ruthmann with the wind turbine support market in mind.

Gerken purchased second of only two Ruthmann TTS1000 ever built, the first having been purchased by Gardemann, now part of the Lavendon group. Both units were delivered in 2001 following its launch at Bauma in April of that year.

In 2007 Gerken purchased one of the first 101 metre Bronto GL101s a more traditional designed truck mounted lift and reported that its lighter weight and more compact dimensions made it a more versatile unit for its fleet.

The big Ruthmann will be ideal for wind turbine work in Texas in that it has greater outreach than the current 100 metre plus units, while its multi axle design may prove to be more roadable in the state.
