Peter Douglass Platforms adds new truck mounts

Bredbury, Stockport-based rental company Peter Douglass Platforms has taken delivery of a new Multitel MX 270 platform and is waiting for an MX 200 to be delivered at the end of April, both from Access Industries, Multitel’s UK distributor.

The 27 metre Multitel MX 270 is mounted on a 7.5 tonne Mitsubishi Cantor 7C18N chassis has a 13.3 metre outreach with 225kg in the cage is now the largest platform in the Peter Douglass fleet.

“With its narrow dimensions - the width of most 19 or 20 metre platforms on 3.5 tonne chassis - and its ease of operation, we see lots of opportunities for this new platform,” said Phil Watson co-owner of Peter Douglass Platforms.

The second platform - the Multitel MX 200 mounted on a 3.5 tonne Nissan Cabstar - will be available for hire on a self-drive or on operated basis. “This is a full 20 metre working height platform mounted on a 3.5 tonne chassis cab with a good 200kg working envelope,” said co-owner Richard Wood, “and we look forward to it joining our fleet, albeit somewhat later than we perhaps had initially envisaged.”

Peter Douglass has operated Multitel over many years and currently has both Multitel ALU 16 and Multitel ALU 20 platforms.

“They have always been extremely reliable, with a good back up whenever spares or technical support has been needed and have very good customer acceptance due to their stability and smoothness,” says Watson. “We would have purchased a Multitel MX 200 in 2008 but the Multitel lead time was so long that we were forced to go elsewhere to satisfy the needs of our contracts.”
