Standing on the rotting roof
Spotted in the London, UK, this week three men working on the demolition of an old brick building, standing on what clearly looks to be an unsafe roof.
In the words of our correspondent: “This is less than 300 yards from the depot of a large powered access rental company, all three are standing on the ridge or worse.”

Three men working on an old roof with hardly a consideration for decent work at height or safety equipment
Still they have their hard hats and Hi–Viz vests which probably makes them feel invincible. Certainly one for our Death Wish series. It also shows just how much work is left to be done, persuading builders and contractors of the need for safe efficient access equipment, when working at height.

I know the scaffold should be extended and there could be crash mats under the roof or maybe not!
But what access platform would let you access the roof to strip the tiles with out hanging out of the basket?
The sad state of affairs throughout the UK is now that sub contractors know that the HSE are that under-resourced the chances of an unannounced safety visit is highly unlikely. Likewise local authorities.
