Zoomlion electric crane goes further
Zoomlion has released a video of the latest version of its 25 tonne pure electric ZTC250N-EV truck crane.
The company originally unveiled a very traditional looking version of this crane last May (see:
All electric truck crane) but we have not been able to confirm if it has actually delivered any production units so far. Especially given that it appears to have a new version now which is also equipped with a self-drive facility for the road, unmanned operation on site with an app style remote controller and is packed out with many other highly advanced features. Oh and it has no superstructure cab.

Some of the other features include totally variable outrigger set up with automatic monitoring, laser load placement including the ability to lock onto the load destination position, and an anti-load sway device and advanced data collection. The boom appears to be the same five section 40 metre design as on the original crane unveiled last year.

The batteries are now apparently located in the superstructure and are supposedly good for a travel range of up to 230 kilometres/143 miles with up to 50 percent gradeability. It appears that once on site the crane is intended to be operated via an AC mains power outlet, which not only supplies power to the crane functions, but also tops up the batteries while working. The company claims that the batteries can be charged from flat to 80 percent in an hour or so.

That is all we have for now but will update this item when we learn more. In the meantime, the video below highlights many of the features:

How practical much of this technology is for the present day and the real world crane market is debatable. The crane looks more like a concept than a final production machine, but many of the ideas will set engineers minds racing and perhaps help along some new phases of crane development?

Concept vehicle or not, it's got some interesting tech, that shows the Chinese are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Ignore them at your peril

While it may be a Zoomy, the concept is great for around cities. Maybe the big boys can take this and perfect it.

Good Lord . Maybe if they considered building a basic reliable truck crane first it would be a start.
Nothing to heavy
This is the kind of plant that will end up on all over CraneHub

No mater how much fancy plastic panels it has or fancy graphics on the video it has at the end of the day it’s still a Chinese crane and it’s still a massive pile of **** and will either break down every 10 mins or just blow up, anybody stupid enough to by this rubbish deserves what they get.
