Crazy in the extreme

Sent from Holland a photo taken of two men who have extended the working height of a boom lift with a guardrail mounted platform.

The photo comes to us second hand and we do not know when it was taken or where, regardless of that it is hard to understand what these two thought they were doing. A closer look does show that the platform is strapped on to the platform and that there is a hole in the centre to gain access to the deck.

It's hard to understand this one

There seems to be some sort of load/ box of supplies stored on the deck outside of its supports, If in addition to this one of these two move too far towards the other and on to the cantilever, causing an imbalance, they would be ‘goners’. And that doesn't count the risks of falling off the unprotected edge or through the open access hole.

The chances of this going right were so small it is incredible that anyone in their right mind would have done this. One has to wonder if this is not a couple of jokers making this up, although looking at the boom angle and the building they are certainly at some height.

A closer look at how the deck is attached and accessed

A definite one for our Death Wish series

Comments

I was surprised that an old death wish photo that I have made in 2004. Is now at vertikal net…
I was at that time a field service engineer working for a rental company after receiving my first digital camera. The picture is taken in Belgium in West flanders. The machine was a JLG 600SC.
Modified to this mega-deck version…
