New west coast distributor for Manitowoc

Manitowoc Cranes has appointed Western Pacific Cranes & Equipment as the exclusive distributor for its Manitowoc, Grove and National Crane lines in West coast USA, western Canada and Hawaii.

The new distributor will be responsible for all products sold under the three brands, while the Potain tower crane line will continue to be marketed and sold by Coast Crane.

Western Pacific Cranes & Equipment is a newly formed affiliate of the Lanco Group and will sell, rent, service and provide product support in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, as well as western Canada, Guam and the Marshall Islands.

Lanco also owns Walter Payton Power Equipment, which has been a Manitowoc distributor in the Midwest for the last seven years and Mi-jack the Illinois based Terex crane distributor.

Larry Weyers, executive vice president for Manitowoc in the Americas, said:
“Based on our in-depth research on these very important markets, we implemented a comprehensive and detailed review of several potential candidates to become our new distributor which resulted in the selection of Western Pacific Cranes & Equipment”.

This distribution change came about after long time distributor Coast Crane went filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September. Coast was then acquired by Essex crane rental.
